Review - Brooklyn Brewery's Weisse

"Brooklyner Weisse is a Bavarian-style wheat beer, unfiltered and chock full of spicy esters that evoke hints of cloves and fruit, some say even bananas. The beer is made with a traditional weizen yeast strain. The malt mix is half malted wheat and half barley malt. The hops are Perle, from Germany. Bitterness is low to medium." -- Brooklyn Brewery

Pours a hazy light amber color with a short, fizzy white head that completely disappears. No lacing due to the very thin body. The nose picks up faint hints of cloves and very faint spices, but sweet spices like coriander. The initial taste provides a moderately strong sweetness, not a citrus sweetness but almost sugary syrup. As it moves to the finish, it slides into a light sweetness that quickly dies at the end. Medium bodied, it has a creamy texture that leaves us slightly oily with soft carbonation.
