Review - Sierra Nevada Brewing Company's Anniversary Ale
"The 2007 Anniversary Ale features prominent usage of Cascade hops– the signature hop used in Sierra Nevada’s most popular product, Pale Ale. It is an American Style IPA with a big, fragrant pine and citrus hop aroma balanced by the sweetness of two-row pale and caramel malt. It finishes with an additional Cascade dry-hopping creating a big hop aroma Sierra Nevada fans will look forward to." -- Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
Pours a light golden color, settling a deeper amber color with a massive white head that lasts for quite a bit leaving a nice sticky lacing behind and eventually disappearing. Even with the glass sitting on the table, the hops are jumping out of the glass, and as we bring it up to our nose, the nuances of the aroma are revealed. Copious amounts of pine hops spring out at us with a nice resiny scent that is very inviting. Up front, we get hit with sweet citrus hops with a slight sourness, moving to a dry bitter finish with a very sticky mouthfeel that gives it a long duration. With light to medium body, we're left slightly dry from the bitterness, accompanied by a creamy mouthfeel.
