Review - Otter Creek Brewing Company's World Tour Cuckoo Bock
"Cuckoo Bock, Otter Creek's seventh stop on the "OTTER CREEK WORLD TOUR" is inspired by the German Mai Bocks. This time the Otter is back in Germany, with a traditional German beer, Mai Bock. Brewmaster Steve Parkes procured Vienna malt, pilsener malt, two types of Munich malts, and hops and yeast all the way from Germany, in an effort to make this beer as authentic as possible. The Otter Creek version will be light and slightly sweet, with a fresh aroma. Don't let this fool you, however. Mai Bocks are strong beers and this one won't be any different. As it says on the label- "Now you can have your own German Mai Fest- prosit!"" -- Otter Creek Brewing Company
Pours a medium yellow hue with a decent fizzy to frothy white head with decent retention and fair lacing. Aroma doesn't reveal very much, so all we're getting is some faint doughy yeast notes. Up front, the taste provides us with slightly bitter to sour notes, and as it moves to the finish, it settles into just a bitter taste that hangs around for a good while. Light bodied, it has a dry texture with an oily mouthfeel.
