Widmer Brothers Brrr Seasonal Ale

Review - Widmer Brothers Brewing Company's Brrr Seasonal Ale

"Give the gift of beer! More specifically, Brrr! The Widmer Brothers have handcrafted a special ale for the holiday season: a generous red ale. Not quite excessively hopped, with candy sweetness and a velvety finish. Perfect for celebrations. Prost! " -- Widmer Brothers

Pours a medium to dark amber color producing a small off-white head with a fizzy consistency that completely dissipates. Body is slightly hazy with a beautiful dark amber color. Aroma is moderately hoppy with some piney notes like a Christmas tree with citrus ornaments. Powerful aroma. Initial taste is very piney with some bitterness behind it, staying lightly bitter through the finish with some caramel malts. Medium bodied, this beer generates very active carbonation leaving the mouth pleasantly dry.

It is a complex beer that may turn off the casual beer drinker, as the hops are very dominant for an amber ale.
