Review - River Horse Special Ale
"Special Ale is our flagship ESB. It's been with us from the start and hasn't changed since that first brew way back in 1996. Ample quantities of caramel malt give this English ale a soft copper hue and the colorful addition of carapils malt adds a slight sweetness you might mistake for honey." -- River Horse Brewery
This ESB pours a medium amber color with a clear body. Small white head forms but quickly disappears. Aroma is of a mild sweet scent, with the addition of moderate pine, woodsy hops. Initial taste is a light sweet, finishing a light bitter. The Special Ale feels light to medium on the mouth, leaving it dry with lively carbonation.
