Review - Sea Dog Brewing Company's Raspberry Wheat Ale
"Sea Dog Raspberry Wheat Ale is a dry, crisp refreshing ale with the added essence of raspberries." -- Sea Dog Brewing
This was the third fruit beer we reviewed from Sea Dog, and unfortunately for it, we'd already reviewed the blueberry. By itself, this is a great fruit beer, but within its own house, it doesn't hold a candle to the Blue Paw. It pours a medium yellow color with a large, creamy off-white head. Virtually no lacing is left behind the mostly diminishing head. Aroma is of light yeast and, invariably, raspberries. The initial taste is lightly sweet, ramping up to a moderately sweet finish with a very fruity taste with a long duration. Nice taste and flavor on the palate, as its light to medium body and lively carbonation leave us refreshed.
Reviewer's notes: "Smells like sour raspberries, not as potent as blueberry or apricot, they do fruit beers well, strong fruity aroma."
