Review - Smuttynose Brewing Company's Shoals Pale Ale
"Copper-colored ale is medium-bodied and highly hopped. Its flavor is delightfully complex: tangy fruit at the start, with an assertive hop crispness and a long malty palate that one well-known beer writer has compared to the flavor of freshly-baked bread." -- Smuttynose Brewing Co.
This pale ale comes off as more of an IPA than an American Pale Ale. Aroma is of light flowery hops, and alcohol. Pours a medium amber color with a sparkling body, covered by an average frothy head. Initial flavor is signficantly bitter, mellowing by the finish to a light bitter. Oily texture on the finish with lively bubbles.
