Review - The Tap Brewery's HaverAle
"Our true light colored hybrid ale/lager. Haverale ferments warm for a fruity nose, and then lagered (stored cold) for a crisp, dry finish. Filtered to a sparkling perfection there is a slight "fruitiness" deep down in this beer with some hints of "corn", "fresh baker's yeast" and a hint of herbal hops at the end.
Most "uninitiated" patrons prefer this beer because its color is reminiscent of the ubiquitous modern-day light lagers. It does however maintain enough of a bold character to appeal to the more discerning modern pallet." -- The Tap Brewery
The Tap labels this one a hybrid ale/lager, and from a process and ingredient standpoint, it may be. However, based on the finished product, it is more in line with a typical American lager. It pours a medium yellow color with a white, fizzy, medium sized head with fair lacing. Clear, crisp body. Aroma is of light bread malts. Initial taste is a faint, light sweet with a light, bitter finish with average duration. Light bodied, it has soft carbonation with a watery texture.
My last sip garnered an unsalted, buttered popcorn taste. Amber felt that the aroma reminded her of a barn floor.
