Review - The Tap Brewery's Jean-Baptiste

"Pale, smooth, and spicy this is the first of the three wise men seasonals last winter. Named after the first person to portray Santa at Santa’s Village in Jefferson N.H.." -- The Tap Brewery

This beer pours a medium to dark amber color with a cloudy/murky appearance. A small, fizzy white head forms, but no lacing is left in its wake. Aromas are of apples and pears, as well as nutmeg, sort of in the same vein as apple crisp. Light malt and alcohol presence as well. Initial taste is very smooth with a light, sweet honey taste, building to a moderately sweet finish without an overwhelming alcohol taste. Light bodied, it has a watery texture with soft carbonation.

It has the consistency and flavor of a cider, one that could certainly get us into trouble as the alcohol is well masked. Complex aroma is baffling, going in a couple of different directions.
