Review - Victory Brewing's HopDevil Ale
"Menacingly delicious, with the powerful, aromatic punch of whole flower American hops backed up by rich, German malts. HopDevil Ale offers a roller coaster ride of flavor, coasting to a smooth finish that satisfies fully." -- Victory Brewing
HopDevil is not just a clever name. This Ale pours a dark amber color with a off-white, frothy head, which is substantial in its own right. Good sticky lacing clings to the glass as the head retreats. Clear body with little carbonation, although the head is fairly well supported. Aroma is of soft orange citrus hops, with a thin, watery nose. There is a light bitter initial taste that is subdued by the finish which reminds us of Ruby Red grapefruit, with fairly good duration. Palate is left with a dry mouthfeel and a watery texture with light to medium body, soft carbonation, and a light alcohol finish feel. This is more of a sessionable, enjoyable IPA that you could enjoy several of.
