EVENT Recap – Belgian Beer Dinner

First off, Ian, Ryan and I would like to thank everyone who attended the Belgian Beer Dinner on February 12th. It was a great success. The combination of the upstairs dining area at the Grog and the elegant food were the perfect setting.  The belgian beers provided topped off the evening. We owe special thanks to New England Wine and Spirits, the Grog Staff, and Shawn from Allagash Brewing Company for collaborating with us on this wonderfully tasteful Belgian beer dinner.

Although there were a few minor bumps in the road, and we had to perform some last minute beer swaps,  it all turned out well.

We shared stories of our friend Ignace and enjoyed tasty beers. Ignace sent us a good luck note before the event… I felt that it was something that I needed to share.  Here’s an excerpt:

The courses as presented below are an abundance of great tastes and awesome beers  [I’m giving the Allagash the benefit of the doubt] and it is the perfect embodiment of the Belgian spirit of gathering for an intimate feast with family and friends.

There will be accents and interpretations, but the only things that are important are that the food is great and prepared with love and good ingredients and that the beer is fresh and at the right temperature. Most important is that all manner of men or women folk partake of it to please their hearts and minds and that they leave the table with their souls replenished and their spirits uplifted. If that is the case, and it won’t the fault of the food or drink, you did it right and I will sit at that table any time you care to have me.

Enjoy your meal :).

With warmth and affection,

you friend Ignace

We believe there were approximately 56 people in attendance including friends, family and several new faces. We hope you all enjoyed yourself and will attend our future beer dinners. 2beerguys next event will be Friday, March 13th. This will kick off our Craft Beer Education Class for 2009. We are tentatively planning to host a “SCARE NIGHT” or “UNLEASH YOUR INNER DAEMON” or “CREATURE EXTREME DOUBLE FEATURE” beer event. Don’t be afraid, we WILL be selecting some “big beers.” These  are the ones you see in the beer store, look at and say…”Is this beer worth $$$$?”…”Should I try that beer?” “na… not today, maybe next time.”  We will try to take some of the mystery out of the “scary” beers.

So — sign up at New England Wine and Spirits.  More information to come soon.

Hope to see you there.  Dress up as Jason or Freddie — if you DARE!!!

Please drop us a note if you have any questions.

Thanks

Sean
