Bodies needed in support of squashing the alcohol tax

lips

Have you ever wondered what difference you could make on policy in this state? Well, you’re about to find out. This Thursday, June 4th, at 11:45am, there will be a rally at the State House (front stairs across from the Boston Common) to protest the tax (see More Beer Tax in MA). In addition, the package stores across the state have been asking their customers to sign petitions opposing the tax. In less than 2 weeks we have close to 60,000 signatures which we will deliver to the legislature.

Not only is this an opportunity to have your voices heard, but it’s an opportunity for us to band together in defiance of a mismanaged government where a piece of legislation takes priority over those who are ultimately impacted. Are we going to go to the poor house because we pay a little more money for our alcohol? Probably not. But our local package store will be impacted (especially if they are close to the NH border) by potentially seeing their customers head over the border for tax-free alcohol.

So, join the resistance on Thursday, June 4th at the State House in Boston as we raise our collective glasses in support of our local businesses and protest against this proposed legislation.

Cheers,

Ian
