The 2009 Harpoon Brewery to Brewery Ride:

Elite New England Cyclists Ride 146 Miles in a Single Day for Charity – and Beer

Boston, MA (June 19, 2009) – On Saturday, June 20th over 900 elite cyclists will embark on a 146-mile, single-day trek from the Harpoon Brewery in Boston to the New England brewery’s Windsor, VT facility for the 9th Annual Harpoon Brewery to Brewery Ride. What started in 2001 as a fun, challenging ride for a handful of cyclists by invitation only has grown to become New England’s premiere event for cyclists, which includes the highest caliber of cyclists such as New England cycling legend Tim Johnson.

The staggered start begins at 5:15 am at Harpoon’s South Boston brewery and ends at their brewery in Windsor, VT. The riders depart from the brewery on a northwesterly route through downtown Boston, turning due north near Westminster, VT. While the route is extremely challenging, it offers riders a unique tour through some of New England’s most picturesque towns. Upon completion of the ride, cyclists are welcomed at the brewery in Vermont with fresh Harpoon beers and a barbecue….

The popularity of the Brewery to Brewery Ride has grown primarily by word-of-mouth throughout the cycling community. This year’s ride of 900 sold out in a record-setting 25 minutes.

The 2009 Harpoon Brewery to Brewery Ride will benefit Team Psycho’s Elite Development Program (EDP) and the brewery’s charitable giving and volunteer program, Harpoon Helps…..
