Harpoon Pott's Landbier
100 BARREL SERIES #32 POTT’S LANDBIER
In the conditioning tank right now at our Boston brewery is the next beer in the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series, Pott’s Landbier. This beer, the 32nd in the series, was inspired by our friend Joerg Pott of Pott’s Brauerei in Oelde, Germany. Pott’s brewmaster, Peter Wienstroer, collaborated with Harpoon’s Todd Charbonneau to brew this beer.

The origins of this beer go back to 2003 when a group of German brewers, including Rainer and Joerg Pott of Pott’s Brauerei, took a tour of American breweries that included Harpoon. A few years later in 2007 Joerg joined the Harpoon staff for the summer months to learn more about American craft beer.

During Joerg’s 3-month tenure at Harpoon, the idea of brewing a beer together was mentioned often, but the timing never quite seemed to work out- until now.

The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series #32 Pott’s Landbier will soon be available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft. After we bottle and keg the beer in mid-June, you will be able to find this beer at both of our brewery store locations (Boston, MA and Windsor, VT) or you can ask for it at your local beer store.

Harpoon Single Hop ESB
100 BARREL SERIES SINGLE HOP ESB
We are pleased to announce to our Friends the release of the 31st offering from the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series, Single Hop ESB, brewed by Harpoon brewer Charlie Cummings. The Single Hop ESB was brewed using a single, newly developed hop varietal called the “Delta” hop. It is the first beer in the world to be single hop-brewed and commercially released using the new Delta hop.

The idea for this beer surfaced in 2008 when Charlie brewed a couple of test batches on Harpoon’s pilot system. The Single Hop ESB came to fruition when Hopsteiner, Harpoon’s main hop provider, sent a sample of a brand new American-grown hop they were developing to the brewery. Already excited about brewing an ESB, Cummings jumped on the rare opportunity to brew a 100 Barrel Series beer using a single hop varietal, the Delta hop.

A cross between Fuggle and Cascade hops, Delta hops yield an unrestrained earthy aroma and taste that complement the rich flavors of the traditional British malts and yeast. To ensure that the Delta hop’s natural characteristics remained the focal point of the beer, the hops were added three times during the boil, once during the whirlpool phase, and finally, the beer was dry-hopped with the Delta hops.

The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series #31 Single Hop ESB is now available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft. You will be able to find this beer at both of our brewery store locations (Boston, MA and Windsor, VT) or you can ask for it at your local beer store.

Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale
Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale:
Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale is a fusion of Belgian and American brewing styles. The traditional Belgian yeast used for fermentation produces fruity, slightly spicy aromatics. A blend of Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts creates a golden amber hue with malty, sweet notes up front. A generous addition of Amarillo hops delivers a floral, citrusy hop character throughout and Apollo hops lend a hint of bitterness to the finish.

A PEAK AT WHAT TO EXPECT

Appearance: Amber color with medium to high carbonation
Aroma: Belgian abbey yeast suggests hints of clove, banana, or bubblegum like many Belgian style ales often do. This complements with a sweet citrusy hop aroma from the Amarillo hops.
Mouth feel: Medium body that is reasonably creamy and smooth
Taste: Fruity and subtly tangy, with spice from the hops and yeast. Mild phenolic along with a modest malt and biscuity sweetness.
Finish: Clean and Crisp
Food Pairings: fruity or tart cheeses, red meat, pickles

Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale
BELGIAN PALE ALE BY THE NUMBERS

Harpoon Island Creek Oyster Stout

Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Island Creek Oyster Stout

The story behind the Harpoon Island Creek Oyster Stout is more of a “buddy” story. A few years ago some Harpooners were out having pints in Boston and happened to strike up a conversation with some folks from Island Creek Oysters . The conversation eventually led to pairing beers with oysters. That moment was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Harpoon and Island Creek Oysters started hosting beer and oyster pairing events at the brewery and, at times, out at restaurants in Boston. It didn’t take long for the idea of a beer collaboration to take shape. However it did take the breweing genius of Katie Tame to bring the beer to fruition.

The 100 Barrel Series Island Creek Oyster Stout will be available in 22 ounce bottles and, in limited distribution, on draft.

Harpoon Imperial Red

Harpoon Leviathan Imperial Red
Harpoon Imperial Red Ale is a feast for the senses. This deep amber beer has an intense hop flavor that balances with the complex caramel character derived from the use of seven different malts. The fruity esters of the yeast blend perfectly with the citrus hop aroma. This full bodied beer is one to be savored slowly.

This new addition to the Harpoon Leviathan Series is currently conditioning and will be bottled in a couple of weeks. By the end of the month, keep your eyes out for it! And enjoy!

Harpoon Ginger Wheat
HARPOON 100 BARREL SERIES GINGER WHEAT

Harpoon Head Brewer Scott Shirley has brewed up the 29th session of the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series and we are excited to share this new beer with our Friends. Ginger Wheat is an ode to Scott’s favorite spice, ginger.

The earthy, warming flavor of this golden-hued ale is derived from fresh ginger. Honey from a local New Hampshire farm yields a slight sweetness to balance the ginger spiciness. A small addition of Apollo hops adds floral notes to the aroma, while a hint of lemon adds acidity and rounds out the ginger flavor.
