The Pilgrims would have a offered a collective prayer to the heavens if they landed in Plymouth on September 11th in this year of our lord 2010. Although this festive day of Dogfish Head is in no way related to the fact that the Pilgrims ran out of beer on their voyage and needed a place to start brewing (and pronto) – it does make for a good backdrop.

The British Beer Company (BBC), with their dedication to a diverse craft and imported beer selection at all nine of their Massachusetts locations is a most appropriate host for such a celebration of beer. In 1997 the BBC opened this first location in Plymouth with the intent of delivering a British pub experience to Americans. It immediately became the spot for locals to meet with friends and family to refresh and connect in an unhurried and welcoming atmosphere.

Dogfish Head (DFH) based in Delaware started as a small brew pub in Rehoboth Beach; brewing small 12 gallon batches of beer for their patrons. Their experimentation with unique ingredients and the resulting extreme high ABV (alcohol by volume) styles quickly separated Dogfish Head from the rest of the small but growing craft beer industry. By 2009 Dogfish Head was the 16th largest craft brewer in the country (beer sales volume). Founder Sam Calagione has become somewhat of a spokesperson for the craft beer industry scribing a book entitled “Brewing up a Business” and premiering a new show on the Discovery Channel this fall called “Brewed”.

What can people expect at Dogfish Fest – 12 tap lines dedicated to Dogfish Head beer! Here’s a sampling of what’s going to be available: World Wide Stout, Sah’Tea, Saison du Buff, Burton Baton, Theobroma, Immort Ale, Raison d’Etre, Palo Santo Maron and Punkin. Favorites such as 60 and 90 Minute IPA will also be poured, and a very rare and special batch of “Bitches Brew” will disappear in minutes. Also joining us will be Dogfish Head’s Randall the Enamel Animal – an organoleptic hop transducer module. You have to see and taste it to, well, believe it.
