Comfort Food Beer Dinner

• 5 Beers,
• 5 Gourmet Courses,
• 50 People/Seats Available, $50/Person, plus gratuity

I looked up comfort food on Wikipedia and I rather disagreed with the definition. There were things like popcorn and hot dogs in there and ice cream, potato chips and chocolate. Of course, those things spell comfort for all of us, but they don’t conjure grandma or Thanksgiving dinner or lazy Friday night casseroles and pot roasts, spaghetti, goulash, chicken pot pie, tomato soup, apple pie, chocolate cake, corn bread and chili or chicken & dumplings and baked potatoes. You know?

• Roasted Tomato Soup with Asiago Toast Points
• Four Differently Devilled Eggs with cucumber salad garnish
• Spaghetti & Meatball with shaved parmigiana

INTERMISSION – Move about the room. You must.

• Chicken Pot Pie
• Caramel Chocolate Cake

Can you resist?  Can you not feel your childhood in this offering?
Do you perhaps feel as though the great mother has already wrapped you in blanket and arms?
Are you gone home?  In the womb?
Comfortable?  Safe? Complete?

Hoo Ah. Resistance is not even a consideration.

Winter Beach Party

• Friday, Jan. 28
• No Cover if you dress the part.
• HOT HOT HOT 88 Degrees, at least

The only party all year that has a cover if you’re too covered up!

We’ll have a tiki bar, tiki drinks, water, limbo, Jimmy Buffett and the Beach Boys. It’ll be a hot hot night. Just come dressed appropriately, or not (heh, heh).

Update – 1/19/11
We are going reggae this year with a Bob Marley tribute band from Boston who are way good and way excited for this very hot, hot gig. Bring anything you have for the beach. Boogy boards, shades, chairs, towels, flip flops. There is no cover, unless you don’t dress the part. Then it’s $5 which still isn’t bad for the music and ambience you will experience. However, show a little summer love, and you get in free. And remember, we are trying to build our supply of Vitamin D on this night. You know what to do. Vitamin D is an important anti-oxidant and this is our opportunity to improve our health. I only know what I read, and just pass this stuff on.

Oh yes, there will be cash prizes, for what is a party without Cash Prizes for say,

• Most Memorable Bikini
• Muscle Beach (and Chris Flagg cannot compete)
• The Whitey Award? (That’s Mine)
• Unusually Dark for Winter Award
• Most Athletic
• The Vargas Award (and Maria Tolman may not compete)

These are just some ideas. We make this stuff up as we get closer to the date, but each award is worth $50 and we might throw $100 at someone who truly understands the meaning of a Winter Beach Party.  (What can that mean?).

I can’t wait. Why only one night?
