Cosmo has opinions on Beer?
In our house, beer magazines reign supreme over all others but because I manage a hair salon, (Shanti Salon in Newburyport, Ma, (wink) shantisalon.com) I frequently browse the latest mags to keep up with trends in fashion, hair and skin. Today, while breezing through the pages of the April addition of Cosmopolitan, I was taken aback by two beer articles. Small as they were, I couldn’t help being completely excited by my favorite beverage making its way into the pages of an otherwise beer free publication.
The first accolade that beer recieved was on the “What’s Sexy Right Now” page. They boast beer as being “more romantic and less brotastic.” Well, I think my bros still love them some beer, but more and more women are crossing over into the world of beer. I agree completely with Cosmo on the romance front….beer and I share a pretty romantic history.
The other mention was in the mini article “The Combos That Dudes Can’t Resist”. They rate (I do not condone rating, but…) women’s looks/what they drink and which combo men prefer. Now, I personally would not change how I dress or what I imbibe for a guy and I don’t think anyone else should either. Still, I think its pretty cool that beer/skinny jeans (whatever on the jeans) came in #1 over little black dress/martini, miniskirt/seabreeze, pencil skirt/whiskey, and tube top/margarita.
Again, I don’t put much stock into what these magazines say or recommend, but, I do think it says something for our community of beer drinkers that beer is infiltrating all sorts of media. Plus, LOTS of women read these magazines and maybe they will try something new because of these articles.
So, the next time you frequent your local pub pay attention to what the girls are drinking…the beer may be fizzy yes, but this could be an opening into getting them to try something a little more “crafty”
