Beer Advent Calendar – Day 1: Shipyard Prelude

To celebrate the Holiday Season, 2Beerguys.com and Seacoastbeveragelab.com have teamed up with beer bloggers around the country to host the first annual beer bloggers advent calendar.  This is the season of sharing and we intend to share our love of beer with you.

Shipyard Prelude:

We initially reviewed this in our infancy and here’s our review :

The Prelude Special Ale pours a reddish-amber color with a nice frothy head. Good lacing left behind by the mostly lasting head. Light carbonation in the body. Aroma’s are of light malts, there is something sweet we can’t put our sniffers on, and a faint hint of alcohol. Intial taste is a fleeting sweet that quickly steps aside, being ushered out by a light bitter finish. Light carbonation on the mouth with a watery feel. A slight charcoal taste is left behind.

Commercial Description:

A rich, nutty, full bodied English Ale with an inviting amber hue and hoppy finish Prelude has 6.7% alcohol by volume, making this seasonal specialty the perfect winter warmer.

Why we selected the Shipyard Prelude:

Prelude has been poured many times by 2 Beer Guys for both our own personal enjoyment and the enjoyment of others.  The word prelude can be  defined loosely as a preface or an introductory performance, so it’s fitting that this beer be our gift to you on the first day of the Craft Beer Advent Calendar.
