A year of great beer and memories: Throwback Brewery

If you hadn’t heard, Throwback Brewery is celebrating their 1st birthday in July!  Located in North Hampton, NH, Throwback www.throwbackbrewery.com is a fantastic addition to our fast growing list of Northeast breweries. The proprietors, Nicole and Annette, not only make killer brews,  they invite folks to come sample them in their sweet little tasting room at the front of the brewery.  It has swiftly become a local hot spot for sampling and growler fills.

*** UPDATE ***

Help us help Throwback! Throwback Brewery’s vision has always been to one day have the brewery on a farm where we could grow some of our own ingredients, provide a great total beer experience for our fans, and help to preserve farmland in our community. So when an opportunity presented itself to possibly acquire a historic farm right here in North Hampton (less than 1/4 mile from our Historic Hobbs Farm in North Hampton, NH current location), we had to go for it! Last weekend, we went to the property auction and walked away with the successful bid!

Throwback is applying for a small business grant that is being offered by LivingSocial and Chase, called Mission: Small Business.  This program will award 12 different small businesses with grants of $250,000 each.  To vote, go to Mission: Small Business and click on “Log In & Support” at the lower right side of the page.  From there you’ll be directed to either sign in to Facebook, or if already signed in, the voting page will appear.  Just type in Throwback Brewery for the business name and our info will pop up, along with a button to click for your vote.

Sean’s first experience with the ladies of  Throwback Brewery was back in mid July 2011 at the Barley Pub in Dover, NH where they debuted their amazing beers at a keg rollout party. The Barley Pub is the perfect spot for the beers of Throwback as they always have a solid and eclectic line up on tap and in bottles.  Sean quickly began a romance with their beers and the rest of the 2beerguys krew were soon swooning as well.

My first peck by a Throwback brew was at the Southern New Hampshire Brewers Festival.  The ladies had several of their flavorful beers on draft that day but it was the kiss of their Spicy Bohemian that quickly intoxicated me and left me wanting more. A pilgrimage to the brewery itself is where I found the source of the spell the beers cast on me…

The affair continued at a special tapping at Portsmouth Brewery’s brunch.  I was drawn to the Maple Kissed Wheat Porter, and in her embrace, I felt safe and loved.

We next met at a tap takeover at the Gaslight, in Portsmouth. They kicked nearly all the kegs on draft that night, impressing me as well as all the other Throwback lovers. We rolled the party over to the Portsmouth Brewery later on, continuing our tryst, and enjoying great company as well as a few choice pints of various local brews.  At this point, I had been sufficiently wooed.

Our on-going romance continued when we meet once again on March 2nd at the Portsmouth Music Hall for a viewing of  The Love of Beer.  Nicole of Throwback was part of our panel discussion after the movie that included Janet Egelston of  North Hampton Brewery www.northamptonbrewery.com, Gretchen McDonald of A&G Homebrew www.aghomebrewsupply.com and Andrea Stanley of Valley Malt www.valleymalt.com.

Beer aside, together, Nicole and Annette make up one infectious spirit. They are like a beautiful spider, weaving an intricate community of beer lovers.  They will tempt you with their brews, and draw you in, until you are woven into their brood.  And you WILL be happy in their glistening web.

Peace,

Amber
