There’s excitement brewing in New England #BBC13

There’s excitement in New England and you can feel the beer energy building by searching for hashtag #BBC13 on twitter.  There is a calm 10-20 mentions an hour right now, but expect over 100 mentions every 25 minutes this evening.

Why?  What are you talking about?

Well, over 50 bloggers have already started on their way to the “other” Portland — Portland, Maine — for the Pre-Conference Excursion.  The participants will be taken to Cabot Creamery,  Sebago Brewing and The Thirsty Pig, among other local hotspots.   In addition, a krew in Boston is kicking off their own party at the Kinsale Irish Pub.    We welcome you to join us in these pre-conference ramblings.  If you’re in Portland tonight, we hope to see you out.

We’ve asked Adam Meuse, our New England beer blogging compadre and frequent guest on the #SBLPodcast, to share his wealth of knowledge about the Boston craft beer scene and the event at the Kinsale Irish Pub.

Cheers!

Sean

Drink Craft Beer, You’ve Earned It!!

My name is Adam Meuse (@BrewEngland) and I write the beer blog Brew England with my wife Sarah @PinkShoe. We put a strong focus of New England craft beer, but don’t ignore the amazing beer throughout the country. We visit regional breweries, write beer reviews, and have even hosted some beer events in the Boston area. Over the four years we’ve been writing the blog, we have met some great people in both the industry and the beer blogging community.

New England is a beautiful region and home to an overwhelming amount of awesome breweries and brewers. We have Allagash, Rising Tide, Hill Farmstead, Somerville Brewing Co, Baxter Brewing Co, Notch Brewing, The Alchemist, and so many more in these six small states, which pack in over 100 breweries and brewing companies, and offer a vast and bountiful list of beers. This weekend kicks off the 4th Annual Beer Bloggers Conference and while I’m unable to attend, I am highly envious of the amazing events and activities in store for those attending! From the pre-party kick off in Portland, ME, to lunch in Portsmouth, NH (two of my favorite cities), to visiting the beautiful Harpoon Brewery and historic Samuel Adams neighborhood brewery, this weekend is going to be jam packed with a ton of memorable events.

If you’re coming to Boston early, consider checking out a Pre-BBC kickoff party at the Kinsale Irish Pub near City Hall Plaza. The MA Brewers Guild and representatives from 17 of Massachusetts best brewers and breweries will be on hand to discuss their beers. Also, not to be overshadowed is the event at Burke Distributors in Randolph on Saturday. This is going to be a fantastic event where you will be able to live blog, sample brews, meet and interact with talented minds behind some of the best beers and breweries in the country.

While you’re in the city, there are a ton of places to visit. I recently posted my recommendations to those attending the BBC, which you can check out on my blog here. (YES, FOLLOW THIS LINK TO READ MORE)

Enjoy your time in Boston. It is an amazing city, full of rich history and incredible places to drink spectacular craft beer!
