@RevBrewChicago

To celebrate the Holiday Season, we have teamed up with beer bloggers and craft beer enthusiasts around the country to host the fourth annual beer bloggers advent calendar. This is the season of sharing and we intend to share our love of beer with you.

During the 31 days of December, we will be sharing our favorite regional/winter seasonals/holiday beers with the help from our fellow beer bloggers. We hope that you tune in every day, to hear our stories and share our holiday cheer.

Revolution Fistmas

Details:
– Holiday Ale
– ABV: 6.1%
– IBU: 31
– Availability: 1/6 & 1/2 bbl, 12oz cans

Commercial Description:
Red ale brewed for the holiday season with specialty malts to achieve a beautiful deep red hue and the aromas of fresh baked bread, caramel, and stone fruits. Steeped with ginger root and orange peel.

Why I selected the Revolution Fistmas:
Tis the season and I am a lucky recipient of the Revolution Fistmas in a care package from Chicago (thanks @Thirstynobeard and @Jlj_love).   I was very excited to try something from Revolution Brewing Company, having only tried one beer from Revolution previously (double fist).   Unfortunately, Revolution brewing does not distribute in the North East so this was a treat.

Initially, the fruity/citrus aroma caught my attention.  It was not overwhelming, but was very distinct — with a mellow orange aroma.   Along with the oranges, the sweet malt aroma was somewhat subtle.   Quite inviting, but not in your face holiday beer.

Poured from a can, the dark amber body was covered by a frothy off-white head.  When held up to the light, the body was so dense that you could not see through it.   From the first sip, a strong bitter flavor emerged, followed by a sweet molasses like finish.   The ginger flavors are more dominant in the finish, but well balanced.

Revolution brewing company raises their fist to traditionally Holiday ales and delivers a tasty seasonal offering.
