Why I selected Beanz Coffee Stout:
The Wooden Legs Brewing Company is my hometown brewpub in Brookings, SD. I have known the owners for several years since they started brewing on a Brew-Magic system in Brant Mathiason’s (co-owner) garage. Seth Koch is the hard working Siebel Institute trained brewmaster and co-owner. Steve Kreeger is the other co-owner and is currently on active duty in the US Army. They have added an important business to our community and are tireless proponents of craft beer. They were awarded “The People’s Choice Award” at the recent Sioux Falls Craft Beer Expo for their #DrinkLocal Ale that featured fresh hops from the Brookings area.
Tasting notes: Beanz Coffee Stout pours out black into a pint glass with a scant brown head. The nose is mainly coffee with hints of sweetness and roasted malt. The taste is delicious coffee. Chocolate and vanilla notes come out as the beer warms.
This beer has become a favorite of brewpub customers. Seth Koch describes it as his attempt to put the flavors of tiramisu into a beer. It pairs well with desserts such as creme pies, shortbread and chocolate/raspberry cake.
