About David: I’m not a blogger, nor do I play one on TV. By day I’m a mechanical engineer working in product design and by night I run Granite State Growler Tours, a NH based craft brewery tour bus. I’ve been drinking a lot of new beers the past couple of years, working with brewers and other craft beer lovers has definitely expanded my beer experience.

Fat Alberta is a flavorful, chocolate peanut butter imperial stout that will make your taste buds sing! Even if you think you don’t like stouts or dark beers, we bet that Fat Alberta will win you over with her rich, chocolate roasty flavors and her intoxicating peanut butter aroma & finish. It’s a dessert in itself!
Why I selected Fat Alberta:
I am lucky to live less than a mile from Throwback (less than half a mile from Hobbs Farm!) so I can usually make it for their special releases. While the beer itself is very delicious, sweet with a subtle chocolate taste and slightly stronger peanut flavor than last year, the release party is the other half of the experience. Throwback is one of those breweries that has a real community feel to the tasting room. When you hang out there, you will see new faces and familiar faces but it feels like you are with your oldest beer loving friends. We ration our share of bottles so the last one is enjoyed right before the new release. It’s a great beer that we save for special occasions or sharing with good friends.
Throwback Brewery is a small, inspired brewery in North Hampton, NH, dedicated to crafting delicious, farm-fresh beers using local ingredients. Throwback was founded by Annette Lee and Nicole Carrier as a way to combine their passion for brewing with their desire to support local agriculture. Their vision is to create beer that is sourced 100% from ingredients grown within 200 miles. As such, many of their beers have been designed to take advantage of ingredients that can be easily grown in New Hampshire – such as wheat, maple syrup, apple wood, jalapenos, etc. At Throwback Brewery, they always brew the beer they love, and they hope you love the beer that they brew!

About Throwback Brewery:
Throwback is a small, inspired brewery dedicated to crafting delicious, farm-fresh beers from local ingredients. Our vision at Throwback is to acquire 100% of our ingredients (such as hops, wheat, barley, fruit, and spices) from within 200 miles of the brewery. Currently, we are about 70 to 90% of the way there (depending on the beer) – which is really unique for the industry and something we are quite proud of.
Crafting beer from what is around us isn’t a new idea. Many breweries in the pre-prohibition era sourced their raw ingredients locally and then processed them before brewing. To that end, our brewery is really a throwback to the past. We strive to make small batches of high quality, artisanal beer from the freshest of local ingredients, with the intent that these beers be enjoyed by our surrounding communities.
While the name Throwback really represents our nod to the past, it also has a second meaning, which is throwing back a beer with friends and celebrating the good times. Since our beers are very approachable and easy to ‘throwback’, we think our name does a great job capturing the spirit of our brewery!
