Commercial Description: Only brewed once a year,on December 6, this strong beer is internationally probably the most famous beer of our brewery, with a large following among the growing number of beer-connoisseurs. The highly complex and long-lasting production process (10 months in the lager cellar), it makes a real rarity. Santa Claus may be many years in bottle, older vintages are gaining complexity and receive their creamy warm aftertaste. The proof: The 2004 vintage was at the World Beer Cup 2012 & was a Gold medaillienge winner in category “aged beers”.

I selected this beer because it’s a big beer and Christmas is a big holiday. It’s a beer that I have not had as well. Also, this beer takes a year to prepare, just like Christmas.

This is a really good big Christmas beer, it reminds me of my Christmas decoration…

About Schloss Eggenberg:
Beer has been brewed at Eggenberg Castle since the 14th century. Commercial brewing the castle began in 1681 when Michael Weismann purchased the property from the Monastery of Kremsmünster. It has been owned by the Forstinger-Stöhr family since 1803.
