During the 31 days of December, we will be sharing our favorite regional/winter seasonals/holiday beers with the help from our fellow beer enthusiasts. We hope that you tune in every day, to hear our stories and share our holiday cheer.

Working alongside our south Corvallis neighbors, Bespoken Coffee Roasters, we elevated our classic Nebula Stout with additional malt and a 24-hour cold extraction on washed Ethiopian Zonegediyo Gedeb coffee. Both varietal and roast profile were selected to complement the base beer with delicately fruity notes, moderate acidity, and a delightful aroma that seamlessly melds into our stout’s rich chocolate and caramel roast character.

Why I selected Cosmic Cold Brew
With the holiday season in full swing, step out of the cold and into the bold with a deep, dark, and out-of-this-world seasonal java hit from the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. What better way to begin than with Corvallis’ Block 15 Brewing’s Cosmic Cold Brew. This pitchy and robust coffee-infused stout is just what the doldrums of late fall and winter ordered. We found bottles and limited growler fills at our favorite Portland, Oregon public house and bottleshop, The Beermongers (1125 SE Division St., 97202).

From the epicenter of Oregon’s hop-growing region comes this 7% ABV dark Cascadian-style stout, richly flavored with washed Ethiopian Zonegediyo Gedeb coffee beans; perfect for afternoon sipping while preparing holiday treats, or with your favorite dessert. The base beer for this warmer is the beloved Nebula Stout enhanced by a 24-hour cold-extraction of the brewery’s neighboring Bespoken Coffee Roasters – a match made in heaven!

A perfect amalgam of malt and bean roast, the overall experience is one to warm the heart during the short and rainy days of December. You’ve got to love the holidays in the great Northwest!

Offering unique hop-forward ales, crisp lagers, barrel-aged rarities and one of the Northwest’s most extensive wild & sour programs, Block 15 produces a range of artfully crafted beers, brewed with a nod toward fresh ingredients and fresh thinking.

We began serving up fine beer and food at our downtown Corvallis brewpub in 2008, and have since opened up a European-style pub—Caves Bier & Kitchen—as well as the Block 15 Brewery & Tap Room in south Corvallis. We are proud to have remained brewer-owned from day one.
