Beer Profile: Heavy Sea’s Hang Ten – Weizen Dopplebock

Clipper City Brewing Company is one of our favorite breweries on the Easy Coast. The Loose Cannon IPA is one of the best hidden gems in the IPA family. Here is new about their latest release.

Hang Ten – Weizen Dopplebock

A classic German-style weizen bock, slightly cloudy and bursting with flavor. Originally available as 12oz bottles in 4 packs, Hang Ten now joins the Mutiny Fleet in 22oz bottles and limited draft. This beer can be aged for up to 2 years. Learn more about our Mutiny Fleet offerings here.

Holy Sheet – Über Abbey Ale
The Mutiny Fleet’s newest recruit is Holy Sheet. Formerly offered in 12 oz bottles, this Uber Abbey Ale is aromatic and full bodied. Pouring a deep burgundy color, its bold flavor pairs well with Gouda and Swiss cheeses.

• 9% ABV
• 7 kinds of Malt
• 2 kinds of Hops
• Available in 22 oz bottles.

Yule Tide – Belgian Tripel Ale
The newest addition to our Mutiny Fleet – Yule Tide – is a strong Belgian Tripel ale with a slightly sweet and complex malty flavor. Its spicy flavor comes from our unique blend of Trappist yeast and Belgian candi sugar making it both aromatic & flavorful. Celebrate the holidays pyrate style!

• 4 kinds of Malt
• 2 kinds of Hops
• Available in 22 oz bottles and on draft in select locations.

Below Decks – Barley Wine
Extremely limited and ‘vintage’ dated – this malty barley wine is the finest of our seasonals. This is a beer that you can cellar just like a wine and will become more complex and interesting in flavor over time. Try some this season and be sure to put a few bottles away in your beer cellar for enjoyiing in years to come.

New to the Mutiny Fleet, barrel aged Below Decks. We’ve taken our award winning barleywine and allowed it to slumber through the winter in wood barrels. Now out of hibernation and available in 22oz bottles and limited draft. Both are vintage dated and will become more complex as they cellar.

Red Sky at Night – Saison Ale
Brewed in the style of Belgian farmhouse ales – using a unique Belgian yeast and authentic Belgian candi sugar. It is a delicate yet spicy ale with deep complexity.

• 7.5% ABV

Letter of Marque – Hop Rye Porter

Winners of the Heavy Seas 2009 Letter of Marque Homebrew Competition get their day at the helm with their recipe for our new Hop Rye Porter. Chosen from national entrants, Baltimore’s own Frank Butt & Neil Heinlein beat out the competition. The most amazing thing of all is that the winning recipe was an accident from these award winning homebrewers. Learn about their whole story here.

Siren Noire – Imperial Chocolate Stout
Our first new recipe for 2010, and a member of the Mutiny Fleet, is Siren Noire. This imperial chocolate stout was fermented and flavored with imported Belgian chocolate and chocolate nibs. Smooth and easy drinking. Named for the Sirens who lured seafarers off course and ultimately to their demise. Share some with your valentine!
