2011 American Craft Beer Week:
May 16th-22nd we will celebrate American Craft Beer Week, a week devoted to the small breweries around the country and the beers they make. Starting on Monday the 16th we’ll kick off a week of events culminating on Saturday with a very special beer release!
Here’s what we have on tap for the week:
CCB/Craft Beer Scavenger Hunt– on going throughout the week starting on Monday the 16th. We will post a list of hints,clues, and tasks for everyone who wants to participate. Who ever completes the tasks first, or gets the farthest through the list will will a very special prize. This will be mainly a photo scavenger hunt, with a few other objectives thrown in and we know you will have a fun time chasing around these clues.. Is beer involved? Of course!
Also on Monday the 16th, think you know your beers? Here’s the chance to prove it. We will be hosting a Blind Tasting. Come and try your hand at guessing what you are drinking! Ale, Lager? IPA, Porter, or Stout? We’ll challenge your palate with an array of different beers from our brewery and breweries around the country.
On Tuesday the 17th we will host a Florida Tap Takeover with Swamp Head Brewing from Gainesville. Come by the CCB Tasting Room and taste a variety of beers from our friends up in Gator Country, many of them award winning! We’ll change out most to all of the taps and feature the beers from this very special brewery for the day.
Wednesday the 18th, we will roll out the popcorn maker and host a Beer Movie Night, enjoy a line up of both informative and entertaining movies devoted to our favorite topic, BEER! Closer to the event we will post the schedule of movies we will be showing.
Thursday the 19th, stop by for a Cheese and Chocolate Pairing. Taste the beers from our own brewery and perhaps a few others paired with a selection of cheeses and chocolate all made by artisan producers. The tasting will take place in the tasting room beginning at 5pm and going until 8pm.
Homebrewing Friday the 20th, Ever want to try your hand at brewing? Here’s your chance! Come out and Brew with Ben Romano our pilot brewer. Ben will guide you through making a batch of beer as part of our pilot series for the tasting room. Time is to be announced, however we will likely be starting in the morning and the brew day generally lasts about 6-8 hours. Space for this day will be limited.
Saturday the 21st we will release a very special beer we have been working on Nielsbohrium, which is part of the collaboration we brewed with Mikkeller back in December. This Imperial Sweet Stout brewed with raisins has been resting in rum barrels for months and has just been bottled and will be ready to go just in time to be part of our celebration. More details on the release to follow, but the bottles will be available and it will make a very special, limited appearance on tap.
Always one of our favorite weeks of the year, we hope you will come and join us for the celebration some, or all of the days for this very special week. Even if you can’t be with us this week be sure to show your support of small breweries by visiting the one closest to your community or even by picking up a six pack at your favorite beer retailer.
