Harpoon 5 Miler – Yeah, I did it!!
THANK YOU HARPOON – YOU ROCK!!
I just wanted to give a quick thanks to Harpoon Brewery and the Angel foundation.
Ryan (thirsty beard) and I ran the Harpoon 5-miler on Saturday. This was my second 5-miler and Ryan’s third. To be honest, I wasn’t very enthusiastic to run 5 miles on Saturday morning – but it turned out to be an amazing day.
When I got up (at about 6:00) there was a crazy rain storm in my area. For those who don’t know me, I am not a fan of the rain.
Well, Ryan and I traveled into the city without any expectations. After registering for the event, we came up with a plan to start at the back of the pack — and run at our own race. This decision proved to be wise. We completed the race at our expected time and was able to enjoy the post race activities.
We didn’t sign up to win (we are slow – well I am slow), we signed up to help Harpoon and the Angel fund find a cure. This year’s donation to the Angel Fund is $80,000!
As a craft beer fan, it was amazing to see all of the Harpoon employees facilitating the event, even the owners. It’s crazy to get to the front of the beer line and see the owner pouring your beer. What an amazing situation. Harpoon – You Rock!!

Also, Ryan and I met many great people during the post race celebration. Runners traveled from all over the US to participate in this event. I met a Stan (a Scotland Soccer Supporter – Celtics fan – yeah, that’s a Celtics [not basketball] tattoo)(Celtics and Rangers are arch-rival football teams in Glasgow) and his friend Jill.
Here is a picture of Stan and I:
