2Beerguys.com Celebrates their 1,000th post

2Beerguys.com reaches an amazing milestone – 1,000th blog post

As I write this post, I am excited to share our 1,000th story.  This is a major milestone for the 2Beerguys.com family and we have many people to thank, including those who have written about their beer adventures and you – our readers.

Ian and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our authors who have contribute to the one thousand posts. The authors include: Thirsty Beard (Ryan), Curly Stout (Andy), Hefeweizen Honey (Lisa), Wood, Black Kat, Beergirl (Amber), Suzanne (latest member of the team), and our token Belgian (Ignace) – everyone’s got to have a Belgian on their team. Thank you for sharing your stories and adventures.

As I look back, I am reminded of our passion for beer and the experiences that we have shared. It is the same passion that we share with many other beer enthusiasts around the world. I’ve looked back at many of the original posts and found a great post from Ignace (in March of 2006)…

Some call it the opportunity of a lifetime, others say it may only happen once so take advantage of the moment, I call it being blessed. I’ve been blessed to have the chance to join my fellow beer drinkers in a opportunity so great that I can only imagine few things better.

We’ve been given a mission…a mission to help those less fortunate beer drinkers experience a better tasting, better crafted beer that most often can be tasted in the same building that it was born in. Put those 2 beer guys up there with Joan of Arc!

I offer my humble thanks for the opportunity to join these two fine men and their selected reviewers on a mission that only few can ever dream to embark on. Now if I could only get my nose to figure out the difference between hops and malt! I have so much to learn!

As I sit here writing, enjoying a fresh Harpoon IPA – IN A CAN, I am humbled by these kind words. I see how passionate we were and realize that our passion is still as strong (or even stronger). We have taken baby steps to discover this industry, while only hitting the tip of the iceberg. We have learned many interesting things about the beer industry, including the 3 tier system – which challenges many small craft breweries, the differences between a $7.00 6 pack vs. a $7.00 12 pack, and that beer is created by passionate people and written about by equally passionate people. It has taken a bit of time to transform from us from know-it-all newbies to a humble enthusiasts.

Here are some of the things that we’ve learned about writing a blog:

  • Blog posts look better with graphics.
  • Scheduling blog posts is the best thing since sliced bread.
  • Blog posts that you don’t expect to be viewed, are viewed the most.
  • Upgrading your blog tools might make some of your older blogs look like crap. 🙁
  • Blogging during an event from your cell phone (non smart phone), doesn’t always work.
  • Writing original articles are harder than writing event recaps (as I sit here 2 hours later).

Here are some of the fun things that we have experienced (in no particular order)

  • Meeting and tasting beers with our local brewers.
  • Sharing experiences and stories with other craft beer lovers
  • Participating in the Mercury Mustache pageant.
  • Attending the Cask event at the 2009 Craft Brewers Conference
  • Attended many Harpoon 100 Barrel series releases and Harpoon Beer Festivals
  • Visiting the mecca, aka Stone Brewery, in Nov 2008.
  • Touring deep dark caverns of Delirium Brewery.
  • Being treated like royalty by F.X. Matt Brewing Company in Utica, NY.
  • Volunteering at brew festivals (NERAX Cask Festival, Fall Tap Festival and more)

Items still on our wish list

  • Dogfish Head 360 Experience
  • Attending GABF in Colorado
  • Oktoberfest in Germany
  • Dark Lord Day
  • 2Beerguys – 100 Barrel series beer 🙂
