WHAT: Lee Skawinski, executive chef and co-owner of Portland, Maine’s acclaimed Vignola restaurant (www.vignolamaine.com), along with local beer celebrity Rob Tod, founder of Allagash brewing Co., will host a beer tasting on August 21. Proceeds from the 4-6 p.m. event will benefit the Allagash Maine Med Scholarship Fund at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, which provides financial support to a student studying to become a pediatric nurse.

Allagash Brewing Company has been crafting traditional Belgian style ales in Portland since 1995 and is considered one of the industry’s most distinguished and well respected brands. The beer-centric evening will feature festive tasting and education highlighted by a tasting of Allagash Fluxus Chocolate Stout. The selection of beers will be complemented by an array of passed appetizers specially prepared by Chef Lee Skawinski. ($10 per person excluding tax/gratuity).
