About D.J.: I have been writing about beer since 2007 while living in Chicago. After moving to Portland, OR in 2009, I began contributing to BREWPUBLIC in 2010 after my friend Angelo De Ieso extended the opportunity. Since this time I have traveled the country and on occasion the globe to learn more about beer and give the readers of BREWPUBLIC something to look forward to. Commercial Description:
In Belgium, Old St. Nick delivers a bundle of sticks to those who have behaved badly throughout the year. Just to be safe, we suggest foregoing cookies and leaving Santa a pFriem Belgian Christmas Ale. Brewed with coriander in a rich, Dubbel base, its toffee aromas and hints of fresh, ripe orange will leave a milk-chocolaty velvet coat on Santa’s tongue and guarantee that you won’t be getting sticks this year.

Why I selected Belgian-Style Christmas Ale:
Only four years old, pFriem Family Brewers is gaining quite the reputation here in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The brewery recently took home the American Revelation Fermentis Trophy from the 2016 Brussels Beer Challenge last month for its Super Saison. This beer was awarded the Best American Beer in the competition that received over 1,250 beers from around the globed all judged by 80 international beer judges.

Belgian-Style Christmas Ale a fine example of a Belgian-style ale brewed with spices for the festive holiday season. The base beer is a Belgian-style Dubbel with an addition of coriander spice to make for a pleasant winter warmer. The festive beer pours dark reddish brown and offers aromas of caramel and toffee along with some spices. As the beer warms to the suggested serving temperature of 45 – 50 degrees, the spices come to the forefront. Available in 375 mL cork and cage bottles, Belgian-Style Christmas Ale will make Santa and all of his elves happy this holiday season!

pFriem Brewery and its award winning tasting room is located in Hood River, OR, just south of the Washington State border and across the street from the town’s beautiful Waterfront Park. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Columbia and White Salmon rivers while savoring pFriem’s core beers and current seasonals inside or around the fire-pit on the outdoor patio. The pFriem tasting room offers a Belgian-influenced menu, made with locally-sourced ingredients; designed to pair with the pFriem family of artisanal beers.

pFriem Family Brewers (pronounced “freem”) is a Northwest & Belgian inspired 15-barrel brewery and tasting room in Hood River, OR. pFriem artisanal beers are symphonies of flavor and balance, influenced by the great brewers of Belgium, but unmistakably true to our homegrown roots in the Pacific Northwest. Although they are served humbly, each glass is overflowing with pride and a relentless aspiration to brew the best beer in the world. We’ll let you decide.
