Commercial Description:
For winter season we offer our Weihenstephaner Winterfestbier.
Our brew master use only the aroma intensive „Mittelfrueh“ hops which result in the special winter flavor of this beer and explain the difference to our regular Weihenstephaner Festbier.
Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Why I selected Winter Festbeir:
I have long been a fan of Weihenstephan, not only because they have been brewing beer since 1040 but also because they produce some exceptional beers. (Touring the brewery is on my to do list when we make it to Germany.) Over the past few years, the Winter Festbier called out to me from the shelves of local stores, yet I ignored its plea. 2016 was a chance to change that, and get one of these bad boys off the shelf and pop it open.
True to a German beer this boy is a pure lager, clean and crisp. It’s refreshing to sip a winter beer without all the bells and whistles. Not that I need to recommend this beer (it speaks for itself) but I’m going to–because you all need to try it.

About Weihenstephan:
The world has changed through the ages and today is a product of this change. It’s nice to know that in the eventful history of Weihenstephan, with all its developments, achievements and setbacks, one thing has remained constant: our beer. Thus the Weihenstephan Monastery Brewery – after nearly a thousand years (founded in 1040) – still stands upon the Weihenstephan Hill, proud of its quality and its tradition and conscious of its position as the oldest existing brewery in the world. You can read about it here!

Even if it’s hard to believe, there was a time when there was no beer brewing in Weihenstephan. Of course this was way back even before the birth of Charlemagne before the Crusades and where is Munich today there were at that time only a few cows on the pasture.

Enjoy an exciting journey through time to the origin of beer and learn more about the history of the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan.
