Beer: The Ghost of Jacob Barley
Brewery: Collaboration with Portola Coffee Lab, Noble Ale Works and Beachwood BBQ & Brewing

Beer Details:

  • Style: Winter Warmer
  • ABV: 9.6%
  • IBU: low

Commercial Description:
Noble Ale Works teamed up with Beachwood BBQ & Brewing and Portola Coffee Lab to brew this Spiced Winter Warmer with coffee. Layered rich with English caramel malts, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon and some of the best coffee on earth, the result is exactly what you’d expect…DELICIOUS! Brewed to celebrate the 2nd Annual Brew Ho Ho Holiday Ale Festival, we recommend that you drink this winter treat as soon as possible in order to experience the vibrant coffee character at it’s peak.

Why I selected The Ghost of Jacob Barley:

When three of my favorite local brewed beverages collaborate, the result is exactly what I would expect: SCRUMTRULESCENCE. The layers of coffee, caramel and spices lay perfectly on top of smooth creamy beer. At 9.6%, it fills your body and soul with holiday spirit without cloying as some warmers can do. With Beachwood BBQ & Brewing winning five medals at GABF plus best mid-size brewpub; Noble Ale Works winning best IPA at the LAIPAFest over San Diego’s stiff competition and one of the best local coffee roasters around, this beer is one for the books.
