(Translated from French) This Bons Vœux is coppery blond, has very fine hop aromas and tastes bitter, fruity and mild.
Our selection of yeasts, in combination with a longduring riping process, on a “dry hopping” base, are creating a typical and complex aroma and taste.
A real refermentation in the bottle, which will continue for a long time in your cellar, result in a harmonious and well-balanced beer, full of unexpected and complex aromas.
Why I selected the Avec Les Bons Voeux:
Though saisons aren’t typically associated with holiday beer selections, this ale has been brewed since the 1970’s as an end-of-the-year reward for Brasserie Dupont’s best customers (the name translates to “With the best wishes of Brasserie Dupont”). CAMRA describes it as “the best Belgian beer, if ever there could be such an award.” I welcome it as a nice change amidst some of the heavier, comfort style winter beers.
It’s incredibly light and dry, and it’s effervescent with a gorgeous amber color. The citrus and pepper notes make this a great beer to pair with cheeses or spicy foods. But watch out, the 9.5% ABV can sneak up on you if you’re not careful. I think it’s also a great introduction for beer lovers who are on the fence about Belgians, or even for wine enthusiasts who think they don’t like beer.
